The White House has now "officially refused" to co-operate with the Democrat led Impeachment enquiry in a letter saying that the enquiry is "baseless" and "constitutionally invalid".
The eight-page letter, addressed to House Speaker and Trump arch enemy, Nancy Pelosi issued
by White House counsel Pat Cipollone accused the Democrats of trying to change the 2016
election result, and attacks the investigation as "constitutionally invalid and a violation
of due process".
"In order to fulfill his duties to the American people... President Trump and his Administration cannot participate in your partisan and unconstitutional inquiry under these circumstances."The letter accuses Democrats of trying to change the 2016 election result, and attacks the investigation as "constitutionally invalid and a violation of due process". Three Democratic-led House committees are investigating Mr Trump to establish whether the President held back aid to Ukraine in an attempt to pressurise the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to push an investigation into Joe Biden´s son Hunter. "Sleepy" Joe Biden is running for the Democratic presidential nomination.
The White House letter went on to state that "In order to fulfill his duties to the American people... President Trump and his Administration cannot participate in your partisan and unconstitutional inquiry under these circumstances."He accused the leaders of setting up an inquiry "that violates fundamental fairness and constitutionally mandated due process"
In response to the missive, Ms Pelosi called the letter "manifestly wrong" and accused Mr Trump of trying to "normalise lawlessness" saying "Mr President, you are not above the law. You will be held accountable."
